Compression Stockings for Varicose Veins

Compression Stockings For Varicose Veins

Compression stockings are an important step in the process of treating varicose veins. When the veins are treated through the technique known as endovenous laser treatment, which we use here at the Vaughan Vein Clinic.  After this minimally invasive procedure is done, a compression stocking is used for the affected leg. The stockings have a key role to play, namely by helping increase circulation post-treatment.

When these stockings are applied, they are fitted tightly at the foot and more loosely as they make their way up a leg. There will be a bit of an adjustment period, but when the compression stockings are fit correctly (something we’ll give you some pointers on) they’ll feel snug and comfortable – something akin to wearing a nice sock on your leg. You’ll need to wear these for the initial period after the procedure at the Vaughan Vein Clinic is done.

  • Important as part of the EVLT procedure to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Stockings are also useful in the conservative management of leg edema and symptoms caused by venous insufficiency.
